    2. Steve Harrison
    3. My grandfather, Grover Eugene Harrison, graduated from Letts High School in 1900. I just found a commencement program in some family things I have. "Eighth Annual Commencement, Letts High School, Opera House, Letts, Iowa, Friday Evening, May 18, 1900." The three page program includes the following list of graduates: Bertha BAILEY, Augusta Mae GARRETT, Eugene HARRISON, John Leroy HILDEBRAND, Ernst W. LIEBERKNECHT, Blanche SHELLABARGER, Alpha Amelia WABNITZ, Odessa WEAVER, Emma WESTBROOK. The class colors were pink and lavender. The class motto: "Keep Your Plow Bright." Along with the program, I have a group portrait of the nine graduates, although there is no identification on the photograph as to who took the picture or specifically who the people are (I can identify my grandfather of course.) I will gladly provide photocopies of the 3 page program at no cost if interested people will send an SASE. I can also arrange to have copies of the photograph made if anyone is interested but there would be a charge for that. Steve Harrison P.O. 2. Judy
    3. Hello again, Verbal "family history" says that great aunt Phoebe lost her husband, Thomas Bennet, and a son to cholera on the trail to Oregon. I find them on the 1850 census of Grandview Township, Louisa County with a one year old daughter, Dolly A. I would guess that they were married around 1848-1849. It appears that along with two Creswell brothers and their wives, Phoebe and Thomas left St. Joe for Oregon in April of 1852. Would there be any birth records in Grandview between June 1850 and March of 1852? Thanks for your ideas. Judy in Tacoma, Washington judithsel@worldnet.att.net

    2. Hi Judy I have a number of POWELLs connected to my family but I have no Fred M. but then again I have a lot of blank spaces in my Powell family. My Powells came from Ohio to Iowa. Could you provide some additional info on Fred's family. Maybe there is a connection of our two Powell families. Ron Garmoe PapaRG@aol.com

    3. Did you find his grave there in the Swank Cem? According to his obit. in Joanne Westfall Pomeroy's book, "his remains were borne to the Swank Cemetery and placed in the ground to await the resurrection morn....." I did not find him listed in the Files of the Swank Cemetery, however. He is listed in NTS in Louisa County Cemeteries as being in TWS W, Long Creek pg 18-1990< If the correct info is found, and if it is not on the IALOUISA-L@rootsweb.com list, would you please forward it to me? And my site would be (GRIN) The Original Muscatine Co IA Genealogy Home Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamusca2/index.html If you don't find your folks in Louisa Co, please be sure to check my site as a lot of families crossed back and forth and you may find that Louisa relative in a Muscatine Co cemetery with other family, or a Muscatine Co relative in a family plot in Louisa. I know several of my dad's family, who lived in Fredonia, Louisa Co, are buried in Conesville, Muscatine Co. That's why I have multi-county listings on my website. As it's not a "Project" site, I can do that, and I work with Norma on these things so we can give pretty good coverage to the entire area. __________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html

    3. Okay, if you are looking for the files in the UsGenWeb archives which are in text format a few of them are in the archives. However, we have far more cemeteries on the IALCGS site than those in the archives. Susie Martin-Rott also has some Louisa County cemeteries on her website and we both have links to the other's cemeteries. Louisa County is unique. Louisa County Genealogical Society members also maintain the UsGenWeb pages for Louisa County. They have separate sites but all are seamlessly linked together. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ia/louisa/louisa.htm
