    1. [IALOUISA] Civil War files and submissions
    2. Norma F. Jennings
    3. If anyone has photos, documents, or other data of family members in the Civil War, I have a co-coordinator on the Civil War site now . Mary Alice Schwanke is much younger, more ambitious and has become very efficient and adept with working with the IaGenWeb Civil War website as well as several county sites she has recently been taking on. She is a real work horse. She also has more patience with individual contributions and has a special place she is putting them that I try not to interfere with although she continues to consult with me and keeps me posted on what she is doing.. While I have remained as a security blanket for her, she is quite capable of managing the site on her own when the time comes and has done so during my recuperation.. Submissions can be sent to Mary Alice at: [email protected] If it requires the scanning of a CW diary, booklet, or file conversion, I have the software to handle that for Mary Alice. Also I can enhance and bring back faded photos to some extent with my software. Much of what we work with is public domain so it can be used in your own family records. Norma Jennings

    2. Norma F. Jennings
    3. I know we still have some former members of the Louisa Co. Genealogical Society subscribed to our mailing list and you are still considered our members although we function more as a committee with no dues. Meetings are still held at regular times so you haven't been abandoned altogether. There are just fewer active members locally now. There are some things in my "to do" pile that you have shared with me over the years with the intent that they go on line. Some of you have helped identify individuals in school photos and I have really appreciated the help. I have been on a bit of a sabbatical since August 11th when I had extensive back surgery and have been limited in my time spent on the computer. It doesn't hurt to remind me if you can't find something that you thought should have been on line by now. I am back working on files and hope to do much better when the holidays are over. Sometimes it just takes a simple question for me to think of something in the works several months ago. Sorry folks, I haven't intentionally been ignoring you. Connie Street has been doing the IaGenWeb site in recent years and I know she also will appreciate anything you want to share with her. She is also now the new manager for and works at the Heritage Center 12 hours a week close to that wonderful library so many have helped build. We don't work in competition and are good friends but as very independent people, we can provide more data for you with the IaGenWeb site and the LCGC site in somewhat different formats. I am hooked on JAlbum now and love working with these old buildings, but I am still interested in other things as well. Both websites came into existence about the same time and I let the Louisa GenWeb site go when I took over the Iowa in the Civil War and the Washington Co. GenWeb sites and felt I wasn't doing them all justice. Both of us are dedicated to bringing genealogical resources on line to help other researchers as we forge ahead. Thank you for your patience. 1. [IALOUISA] Wapello pictures
    2. Norma F. Jennings
    3. Thanks to a little nudge from Robert Schneider, I got busy tonight and made a few corrections to the album of the town of Wapello and linked it to the main page of the Louisa County Genealogical Committee's website. I am primarily working with historical sites and buildings of Louisa County towns so if you have photos of people I prefer that you send them to Connie Street for the IaGenWeb pages. I do have a few class photos but I prefer to not get into individual family photos as I still have a lot of work to do on the historical sites. In the future I hope to get them better captioned and the histories added to them but the photos are at least up if you are looking for a particular one. I used JAlbum to create the files that can be viewed as thumbnails or can be clicked on enlarged or ran as a slideshow by clicking on the arrows in the upper right portion of the index pages. Thanks to all who have contributed photos and postcards. 3. I recognize your name but I have also copied Bill Yakle's postcard collection. I needed a reminder to get back to working on them. I do have a number of Wapello photos in an album/slideshow program I have worked on off and on but it still needs a little spiffing up before I link it to the main page. If you click on the thumbnails, you can enlarge the photos and read the filenames and notations on the photos. A few photos are still blank but you can check it out and see if your photo is in there at: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ialcgs/wapello/index.html Norma Jennings Robert Schneider wrote: > Hi! > > I have some recently discovered photos. 3. You can send jpgs to me and I can post. The only photo I remember was a faded photo of a street near the courthouse - no people. If it was something else, please resend. Thanks, Connie Street [email protected] My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
