Arnold 96, died Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 1991, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1894, at Cairo, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Eugenia Smith Van Horn. On July 2, 1912, she was married to Otis Arnold at Muscatine. The couple farmed in the Atalissa area for many years, moving to West Liberty in 1974. She was a member of the First Church United in West Liberty and the First Church United Women. Survivors include one son, Stewart Arnold, of West Liberty; two daughters, Jessie Stewart, of Atalissa; and Mrs. Harold (Verlee) Williams of Grandview, Iowa. Eleven grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Jan 16, at 11 a.m., from the First Church United in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial will be at the Overman Cemetery at Atalissa. Raymond Armentrout on June 3, 1924, in Letts. He died in August 1991. She was a school teacher before being married. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, and Elmcrest Country Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and working on crafts. King was born Dec. 31, 1904, in Arion, Iowa, to Elliott and Dora Wright King. Lois married Gerald W. Armentrout. Gerald preceded Lois in death. Lois is survived by three sons, Gerald Armentrout and his wife Valerie of Green Valley, Ariz., Dean Armentrout and his wife Carolyn of Barrington, and Wayne Armentrout of Lake Zurich. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, rural Morning Sun, with Pastor Ron Good officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun. The casket bearers include Douglas Bardolph, Tom Johnson, Ted Johnson, Jon Frischkorn, James Pilling, and Paul McElhinney. Honor bearers are Frank Mauer, Hoyt Cummings, Alvin Lambert and Earl Wilson. Ola Lambert and Ethel Robb are flower attendants. She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1922. She attended Fort Madison Business School and worked at the Des Moines, Iowa Duplicating Works for four years. On May 28, 1927, she married David T. Armstrong at Morning Sun. He preceded her in death on Decdember 3, 1981. She was an active member of the R.P. Women's Missionary Society, Sorosis, Past President of Parley of American Legion Auxilary, Honeycreekers Homemakers Club, and the Farm Bureau. She taught Sabbath School in the Morning Sun R.P. Church for many years. She loved to travel and enjoyed seeing Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other states. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a son, Dr. David R. Armstrong of Elmhurst, Illinois; two grandsons, Tom Johnson of Austin, Texas and Ted Johnson of Fort Dodge; a granddaughter, Beth Bardolph of Villa Park, Illinois; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Chelsea, and Ethan Bardolph. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Mabelle Sexton and Mary Hensleigh, and a brother, Bill Carithers. Jane Eleanor Martin was the daughter of William and May Ann Warnock Martin and was born July 31, 1865 in Pennsylvania. Her parents died when she was quite young and in young womanhood she came to Iowa and lived for a time at Blanchard. On Oct. 18, 1889 she was married to W.J. Armstrong whose death occurred in 1925. For the past 16 years Mrs. Armstrong has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Calvin McClurkin. Other survivors include two sons, Kirk and David. Two sons died in childhood. Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Morning Sun Reformed Presbyterian Church. The Rev. J.E. McElroy officiated and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Armentrout was superintendent of schools at Buffalo from 1843 to 1966 and joined the Davenport school system in 1967. She received her B.A. from Marycrest College at Davenport and an M.A. in Education from the State University of Iowa. She was a life long member of the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Assn., Iowa School Administrators Association, Association of America University Women, Delta Gamma national teachers sorority and was active in the Mosonic organization. She was born December 4, 1904 at Letts, the Daughter of the late Edwin and Elizabeth McCormick. She married Norman Armentrout on February 22, 1930 at Waterloo. Surviving is her husband, Norman. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo.

He then married Aline Johnson Smith March 19, 1979, in Washington, She died Dec. 27, 1989. Mr. Aringdale was a lifelong farmer in the Columbus Junction area. He was a 70-plus year member of Spring Run United Methodist Church, serving on the church board and several committees. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 365, serving as past Grand Degree Officer both at a state and local level. He had also served as the Elm Grove Township assessor for 13 years and on the ASCS Township committee. He was noted for having neighborhood Halloween parties at his home for 12 years. Survivors include a brother, Frank Aringdale of Mount Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, two stepchildren and a step-granddaughter. He attended Columbus Junction schools and attended the University of Iowa and after World War II attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Beck, who died Saturday morning, Mar 24, 1956 in St. Louis, will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Floyd Bowerman will officiate, and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Fannie Davis Veale, eldest daughter of a large family of Texas Pioneers, was born at Dresden, Texas, on Oct. 15, 1861. Her parents were Judge and Mrs. William Veale. Her father was a prominent attorney. Two of her brothers were Texas cowboys and her grandmother Hardin, said to have been the first white woman married in Texas after its annexation to the Union. She was married to Henry H. Beck, who came to Texas from Morning Sun and built the first department store in her home town. The couple later moved to Morning Sun, where Mrs. Beck became a teacher in the Presbyterian Sunday School and a leader in the town's activities. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Beck spent the winters at the home of her daughters, the Misses Mary, Annie, Ruth, Mildred and Marion Beck who are teachers in that city. It was at their home that she died. Her youngest daughter, Esther Beck, is an associate professor at Alabama Polytechnic University at Auburn, Ala. Also surviving are two other daughters; Mrs. R.H. Davenport, Washington D.C.,; and Mrs. J. Milford Hays, of Morning Sun, a brother, Judge Warren C. Veale, Breckenridge and a sister, Mrs. R.H. McAlpine, of Amarillo, Texas.

He was married to Katherine Wehmeyer on Dec. 7, 1897. She died in March of 1927. Brauns is survived by four sons and six daughters; John Brauns, Eria, Pa,; Fred Brauns, Rockport, Ind.; Henry Brauns, Muscatine; William Brauns, Mrs. Christena Boorn, and Mrs. Emma Eversmeyer, all of Wapello. Skipto DATE: 2/26/2009 at 00:56:22 Surnames: REIMAN Wapello, May 1951. Jeffrey Lynne Reiman, one-and-one-half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Reiman of near Oakville, was killed about 1:15 Tuesday afternoon when accidentally run over by a tractor on the farm of his father. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Burlington hospital. He was born on Oct. 30, 1949, the son of Kenneth E., and Barbara Small Reiman. He is survived by his parents and one brother, Dana Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Apostolic Church south of Oakville, in charge of Rev. Noah Schrock, pastor. Interment will be in the Apostolic cemetery. The Dudgeon Funeral Home of Wapello is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 19, 1893, in Muscatine, a daughter of Michael Pfeiffer and June E. Carey Preiffer. She was married to Roy L. McGill on Aug. 23, 1939, at Iowa City. She had been a resident of Grandview for about 11 years and previous to that had lived at Riverside, Ia. Mrs. McGill was a member of the Grandview Community church and the Royal Neighbors lodge. She was president of the Carey reunion organization. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Garna E. Mapel, Ainsworth; three step-sons, Lawrence McGill, Biloxi, Miss., Darryl McGill, Letts, and Russell McGill, Burlington; three stepdaughters, Twyla Miller, Coshockton, Ohio, Cleda Blake, Grandview, and Mrs. Frances Fry, Letts; two half-brothers, Marion Pfeiffer, Chicago, and Carl Pfeiffer, Durant, and three grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother. The body will be taken to the McGill home at Grandview late this afternoon from the Fairbanks Home for Funerals in Muscatine. Born June 12, 1877, at Grandview, Mrs. Graham had been a resident of Muscatine for the past eight years. She resided in Grandview before moving to Muscatine. Mrs. Graham was the wife of James Sherman Graham. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Alice May Williams, Disney, Okla., Mrs. Greta Camille Gentzler, Muscatine, and Mrs. Roenna Bielke, Rochester, Minn.; two sons, James Nelson Graham, Wapello; and Raymond Tharp Graham, Owens, Wis: a brother, Lee Tharp, Burlington; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Three daughters preceded her in death. The body is at the Dudgeon Funeral home where it will remain pending funeral arrangements on arrival of relatives.
