Marjorie was born August 27, 1929, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Willie and Bernice (Van Horn) Werner. She married Ray Babbitt February 24, 1954, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marjorie was associated with the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a grounds keeper at Chautauqua Park, Columbus Junction, for 30 years. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Ray, a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Letitia) Landes, Mt. Union, Iowa; and three grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Raymond Werner, Winfield, Iowa. She was preceeded in death by her parents, and a sister, Evelyn Lukins. Memorial funeral services for Marjorie Babbitt will be held Thursday, February 22, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation. Donald Ray Bailey was born January 8, 1921, in Muscatine, Iowa, to William G. and Nellie Lucille (Paullins) Bailey. He married Alta Mandler September 1, 1946, in Nashua, Iowa. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Don had been director of research and development for the Cardinal Scale Company, Webb City, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Glanslammers Bridge Club and the Genealogical Society, Joplin, Missouri. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Alta, Webb City; a son, Kent Bailey, DDS, Gladstone, Missouri; and a daughter, Kristen Bailey, Prairie Villiage, Kansas. Also surviving is a brother, Paul Bailey, Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at 1:00 pm at the Letts Cemetery, Letts, Iowa. The body was cremated. The Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, was in charge of local arrangements. Ayers a well known resident of this community until recent years, died at Portland, Oregon, June 10, 1962. His health had not been good since he suffered a stroke two years ago. Glenn Wyman Ayers, son of Wyman Linden and Eva May Ayers, was born at Columbus Junction. He Attended the local school and also took special work at the State University at Iowa City in music. Always interested in music he taught music in Columbus Junction and also in various southeast Iowa public schools for a period extending over 30 years. He also owned and operated a music store here for a number of years. On October 14, 1915 he was united in marriage to Erma Esther Warner, who preceded him in death in 1957. To them six children were born all of whom survive him. They are Edward D. Ayers of 428 Euclid Street Santa Monica, California; Robert Warner Ayers, 9 Short Street, Union Gap, Washington; Louise Eva Walcott, 437 Windsor Way, Renton, Washington; Catherine L. Hinsz, 302 East North Yakima, Washington; Ruth Ann Bebb, route one, Bagley, Iowa and Erma Jean Turner, 400 Lincoln Street, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He is also servived by twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was again married June 14, 1958 to Mrs. Mae (Malby) Stowie and moved her to their new home at 16235 Southeast Clinton Street, Portland, Oregon, who also survives him. Mr. Ayers was a member of the Columbus Junction Methodist Church also of Columbus City Lodge No. 107 A.F and A.M.; Royal Arch Mason Chapter No. 44, Gresham, Oregon. Also a Shriner. After moving to Portland he played for a time in the Al Kader Shrine Band. He was also a member of Emma Beckman Chapter 45 Order of Eastern Star of Columbus Junction and a member of the Music Educators National Conference and the Musicians Union. He also played the clarinet in many concerts and for some years directed the Columbus Junction band. Services were held at Portland, Oregon in charge of the Masonic Lodge of that city, Wednesday, June 13th in Gresham, Oregon. The body was then sent to the Stacy Funeral Home in Columbus Junction and is expected to arrive here Saturday. The family will be at the funeral home until noon Sunday when the body will be taken to the Columbus Junction Methodist church where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Robert M. Parris.

He married Florence Setters on August 31, 1968, in Palmyra, Missouri. Glenn was an Army veteran of World War II, volunteered at the Senior Center in Columbus Junction and Muscatiane, and helped at Christmas time at the Salvation Army. Survivors include his wife, of Grandview; step-sons, Joseph Truitt, Muscatine, Elmer Truitt, Oxford Junction, Bill Adams, Quincy, Illinois, and Jay Adams, of Florida; and step-daughters; Donna Harland, Letts, Velda Evelyn Ehlers, Lost Nation, Carolyn Stanberry and Sheila Pults of Quincy, Illinois. There are twenty-one step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Carrie Byrd, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held December 22 at the Geo M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. He had worked as a pipefitter in commercial building construction, Had owned and operated the B & J Bait Shop in Wapello for nine years, and had also done aerial crop dusting. Pearl married Russell Albert Adams March 1, 1920 in Conesville. The couple farmed nortwest of Columbus Junction and later farmed west of Conesville. They moved to Conesville when they retired on September, 1961. Russell proceeded Pearl in death September 12, 1962. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Pearl was an active member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Conesville, the Farm Bureau Women and the Conesville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed music, cards and especially the times spend with family and friends. Pearl became a resident of Colonal Manor Care Center on September 1, 1980. Pearl is survived by two sons and their wives, Howard and Twyla Adams, Beach Park, Illinois, E.B. (Bill) & Gail Adams, Blue Grass, Iowa. Two daughters, Mrs, Bernice Mundt, Waverly, Iowa and Mrs. Wanda Carson, Conesville, Iowa. There are 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. They were the parents of four children. They divorced in 1979. Tonya later married DeWayne Adams on September 7, 1981. They later divorced. Tonya loved the outdoors and liked gardening. Survivors include her children; Anthony (Dosha) Romoser, Keota; Brett Romoser, Keota; Chad Romoser, Blue Springs, MO, and Jodi Romoser, Washington. There are two grandsons. Also surviving are two sisters, Paula Jones, Prospect Hights, IL and Pam Fritz, Grandburry, Texas. An aunt, Gladys Hartman, of Muscatine, also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services were held March 7, at the Indian Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.

Mr. Babbitt who lived many years at Conesville resided the last seven years at Centerville. He was a patient for four days at Riverview Heights Nursing Home, Muscatine where he died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 1961. A son of Henry F. and Alida Pettit Babbitt he was born March 26, 1883 in Appanoose county. He was a member of the Conesville Methodist church. He never married. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Staton, Lone Tree, Mrs. Madge Bangs, Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Mrs. Grace Scott, Des Moines; and two brothers, Vern, Muscatine and Lazelle, Wilton. Mrs. Eva Kramer was organist. Pallbearers were Ray Pace, Edwin Longstreth, William Hines, Fred Welsch, Peter Gray and Lee Lane. Adams was found dead in his home last Thursday. Officials said he apparently died early Wednesday. Two daughters servive, one in the Chicago area, another in Michigan.

He was a veteran of World War I, a member of World War I Veterans Barracks 1510 and attended United Methodist Church in Agency. He married Abbie Reynolds February 1, 1921. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Dorothy Wheaton of Ottumwa, Route 7; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister Cecil Harris of Branson, Missouri. His parents, three brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
