Funeral arrangements are pending at Dejong's Funeral Home in Keokuk. Daily Gate City Keokuk, Iowa Friday July 31, 1998 Page 2 Column 1 ------------------ Ethrage "Doyle" Woodard Oct. 8, 1947 - July 30, 1998 Ethrage "Doy1e" Woodard, 50, of 2024 Missouri Street, Keokuk, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 8, 1947, in Carrollton, Ga., the son of Ethrage Lester and Ruby May Cash Woodard. He married Rose Burdette on March 15, 1986, in Keokuk. She survives. Additional survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Jensen of Carrollton; a son, Steven Woodard of Carrollton; two stepchildren, Mrs. Tracy (Lois) Woodbury of Farmington, Iowa, and Mr. Terry (Lorrie) Symmonds Jr., of Keokuk; an aunt, Wylene Hodnett of Roopville, Ga.; six grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, and his mother and father-in-1aw, Eva and Darrell Burdette Sr. He moved to Keokuk from Georgia 18 years ago and had been employed at the Iowa State Penitentiary as a Corrections Officer for the past 16 years. He received a volunteerism award from Governor Terry Branstad. Mr. Woodard was a member of the New Testament Christian Church. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation is today with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Keokuk Head Start.
