Ia Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/LeeObits/10228 Surname: SKYLES, SOUTH, SNIVELEY, GRISWOLD, KENT, PEAK, CONLEE ------------------------- SKYLES- At his residence in Jefferson township, Lee county,Iowa, Monday, December 23,1901, at 1 o'clock a.m., BENJAMIN SKYLES, aged 91 years, 3 months and 29 days. The deceased was born in West Tennessee, August 24, 1810, and in 1818 came west with his parents to Missouri and from that state to Illinois, where he remained ten years, and while there was united in marriage with Miss Hannah Peak in 1833. Mr. Skyles came to Lee county five years later, where the wife died. In 1864 he married Miss Elizabeth Conlee, who survives him. Ten children were born of the first marriage. Mr. Skyles was a prosperous farmer of Jefferson township, respected by all. Funeral on Christmas Day. Interment in the Wilson cemetery. The surviving children are: Thomas A., F.J., G.W. M.R., John, Mrs. W.H. South of Charleston township, Mrs Nancy Sniveley of West Point township and Mrs. James Griswold of near Macuta Station in Jefferson township. Mrs. F.B.
