Lutz Everett F. (Eddie) Lutz, 77, rural West Point, died at 9:20 PM Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1989, at Fort Madison Community Hospital. He had been stricken with a heart attack at his home a short time earlier. Mr. Lutz was born March 8, 1912, at Mt. Hamill and was a lifelong resident of the Houghton area. He was a retired farmer and was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church of Houghton, the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the West Point Senior Citizens. On Feb. 7, 1939, at Houghton, married Delores (Dot) Sanders, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ray of Houghton; four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Marlene) Bentler, Salem, Mrs. Jerry (Sandy) Wenz, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Larry (Marge) Stuecker, Pilot Grove, and Mrs. Bill (Christy) Dodson, Camamche; a sister, Mrs. Jud (Theresa) Schwartz, West Point; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents were Peter and Christine Denning Lutz. Service were at 10:30 AM Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Johns Church. The Rev. Robert Striegel officiated. Burial was in St. Johns Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Bentler, Don Bentler, Kurt Stuecker, Todd Dodson, Doug Dodson, Craig Dodson, and Randy Bentler. The Link Funeral home in West Point was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established.
