Born May 24, 1936, in Bowie, Texas, to Clyde Buckner and Irene Marcella Ingram Coffman, he married Betty Long on Jan. 18, 1968, in Carthage. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Ricky D. Franklin of Fairbanks, Alaska, Norman and Randy Coffman, both of Fort Madison, and Tony Lee Franklin of Memphis, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Brett (Lisa) Selman of Houston and Mrs. Steve (Lynette) Carter of Fort Madison; one brother, Jerry of Peoria; and seven grandchildren. One son, Blaine Jr., preceded him in death. Memorial services were May 18 at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison. His body was donated to science.
