History of Lee County, Iowa, Western Historical Company, Chicago, 1879, Madison Township, page 743: MORRISON, DENNIS A., of the firm of Morrison Brothers, manufacturers of plows, scrapers and agricultural implements; was born in Ross Co., Ohio, Oct. 5, 1839; when 9 years of age, came with his parents to Iowa, and in 1853 they came to Ft. Madison; he went in [sic] his fathers shop and learned the trade of plow-making; they carried on the business, sparing no effort to make a superior plow; from this small beginning, their business has grown to the present magnitude. When the war broke out, he enlisted, in September, 1862, in the 7th I. V. I., Co. D., and served until the close of the war, nearly three years; since his return, he, with his father and brother, have carried on their extensive manufacturing business; he gives his attention to the iron and steel work, and has the practical management of this department. He married Miss Emma A. Kennedy in October, 1868; she is a daughter of John G. Kennedy, one of the oldest settlers of Lee Co.; three children Maud E., Ed. K., and Don.
