    1. Re: [IALEE] Weismann in Wallis obit
    2. According to my gg-grandfather's journal, there was a Dr. HUGHS in Keokuk in Nov 1857. Dr. Hughs had been recommended by the family doctor, a Dr. WALKER of Libertyville, to treat an eye ailment for my g-grandfather, then 7 years old. I wonder if Dr. Hughs taught at "the Medical Department of the University of Iowa." Funding had been arranged for this medical college with "a group of medical doctors at Keokuk" in 1848. ("A History of Iowa" by Leland L Sage, Iowa State Univ Press, 1974.) (My gg-grandfather was James H. McCUTCHEN, an ordained Methodist Episcopal minister, at that time assigned to the Libertyville circuit.) Evelyn
