Wallis, who d. in 1914, mentioned that one of his daughters was Mrs. H. C. Weismann. It also mentioned that Mr. Wallis's father was "one of [the] first physicians in the area." While I can't identify Mrs. Weismann's husband, I can tell you that another of the area's early physicians was Adolph Weismann, M. D., who was first a pharmacist in the area, beginning in 1856, and then became a physician in 1863. Dr. Weismann graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Keokuk, was the Examining Surgeon for Pensions, and between 1875 and 1880, was the vice president of the Medical Society of Keokuk. A transcript of one of his reports as the examining surgeon for pensions is posted at: C:\My Documents\Genealogy\Surnames\Weismann\Family Tree Maker's Genealogy Site User Home Page Genealogy Report Descendants of Louis Springer.htm.
