Frank Succumbs Today (Keokuk Daily Gate - 11/6/1946) George A. Frank of 208 South Fourteenth street, prominent Keokuk welder and machine shop operator for many years, died in St. Joseph hospital this morning at 11:40 o'clock. In failing health for several months, he had been a patient in the hospital since October 14. The son of the late Charles and Lucinda Holdefer Frank, he was born in Keokuk (Lee County) on August 8, 1877, and spent his entire life here. Mr. Frank received his education in the public schools of Keokuk and at an early age took up the blacksmith trade under the instruction of his father and the late A.C. Wustrow. He followed this trade with the A.C. Wustrow Carriage Works until 1920 when he went into business for himself. He continued this business as the George A. Frank Forge Shop at 1120 Johnson until his recent retirement because of poor health. He was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed church and had served for several years on the board of deacons. He was also a member of the Baraca class of St. Paul, the Knights of Pythias and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. On October 5, 1915, he married Miss Lily Goetsche in Burlington. She survives as does a sister, Mrs. Minnie Corrigan of Hermosa Beach, Calif., who with her husband have been here during Mr. Frank's illness. There are also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death, Charles H. Frank dying June 28, 1946. Funeral services will be held in the St. Paul church Friday afternoon at 3:30. The body was taken to the Schmidt Memorial Home.
