She came to Iowa with her parents and settled near Salem in 1837, where she lived and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to David THATCHER in 1850 and went west, settling near Red Oak. About eight years ago they moved to California where they have lived until she died. She has been a great sufferer. For the past five years she has been almost helpless. Mrs. THATCHER was a sister to O. H. COOK of this place, and a good christian woman. [Charity was the daughter of Nathan Cook & Sarah Denney]
