Ia Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/LeeObits/172 Surname: Bank, Gollmart, Risser, Hennies, Wanner ------------------------- The following obituary is taken from the "Farmington News" dated Tuesday, July 24, 1906. ----------------------------------------- Death of Henry Bank, Sr. Henry Bank, Sr. died Sunday, July 22, at his home in Lee County, three miles east of Farmington. During recent years his daughter, Mrs. P.W. Risser and her husband have occupied the Bank homestead, and here the good old man spent his declining years surrounded by his grandchildren. Few men possessed more sincere friends than Grandfather Bank. Henry Bank, Sr. was born in Brunswick, Germany, January 8, 1813, and was therefore in his ninety-fourth year. He was married to Julia Gollmart June 11, 1838. Mrs. Bank died May 6, 1877. Mr. and Mrs. Bank came to Ft. Madison in 1848 and three years years later moved to the farm where he died. To them were born seven children all of whom survive, William of Wichita, Kan., Judge Henry Bank, Jr. of Keokuk, and August of near Warren; Mrs. Dora Hennies also of near Warren, Mrs. Louisa Risser of Alexandria, Mrs. Henrietta Risser, who cared for her aged father during the last thiry years of his life and Mrs. Julia Wanner of Farmington. In his family were numbered thirty-eight grandchildren (four dead) and twenty eight great grandchildren, three of whom are dead. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the German Lutheran Church. Rev. J. Birkner of Primrose, and Rev. Stanley E. Wilkin conducting. The following out of town people are in attendance: Ed S. Lofton, Judge W.L. McNamera, F.M. Ballinger, C.J. Smith, John Menz, Rice H. Bell, Henry Kesirlring of Keokuk, Otto C. Haessig, Omer E. Herminghansen and W.S. Hamilton of Ft. Madison. ----------------------- NOTE: Both Henry and Julia Bank are buried in the Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, Iowa. Henry and Julia Bank were my great-great grandparents. I would like to hear from anyone with any connection to this family.
