The Wilson, Carr, Skiles families, along with others that married into these families are on line. These families were among the first settlers in Jefferson Township. Many are buried in Wilson Cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialee Click on Genealogy, this will lead you to Lee County Family Histories which has a link to part of your families genealogy. Do you know where Ethel is buried? If she's buried in Keokuk, then I would try the Oakland Cemetery records or if she was Catholic, there is a an old Catholic section. I know that they keep a cemetery listing at the Keokuk library. Maybe if you called and asked if Ethel Moore was on the Oakland or old Catholic lists? They're in alphabetical order so it wouldn't take that much time to look up. Thanks to all who responded! I would love to find an obituary notice but without a death date I cannot look or ask anyone to do so as it would take in a thousand newspapers and much time. If I even had the right year I would look myself. If the Bureau of Vital Statistics would just let me use their computer to search for a death certificate! Ha! They also require a time period. I also do not even know for sure this is the right Ethel Moore but the age is right. I will try some more searches in the Lee County Records and maybe this summer even go there. Thanks again! Sandy

Sandy, You might try the Lee Co., Iowa Recorder's office in Keokuk, Iowa, 25 N. 7 St. (319) 524-1126. This is where the vital records are kept. I can't say they would look up a death record since you do not have a definite death date. You might also try this site for the Lee Co Genealogical Society http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialeecgs/ They have a person who would do research for you. I am researching Johann Charles FRANK who was born 1832 in Hesse-Kassel Germany. Below is the information I have found: Charles married Lucinda HOLDEFER Aug. 1866 in Keokuk (Lee County) Iowa. Lucinda was born @ 1844. On the 1880 Census their children were: John b 1867, Charles b 1869, Lizzie b 1871, Maggie b 1874, Katie b 1876, George b 1877, an infant born 1880. They also had a son Edward b 1885, who married Margaret CORRIGAN from ILLINOIS and d 1941 in Michigan. I am assuming all these children were born in Keokuk as I find Lucinda living with her married son George (a blacksmith) in the 1920 Census for Lee County in Keokuk. There may also be other children who are not on my list and who were born after 1880. If you have any links to this line, or access to the Lee County Iowa Census for 1900, I would like to hear from you. Stephanie

His parents being Friends, he has raised in that befief. During his last sickness he was very patient and often expressed his resignation to the will of the Lord. He was particularly fond of the 23rd Psalm and often quoted the 4th verse during the sickness. He was conscious most of the time during his last hours and expressed a desire that the end might come soon. Funeral services were held at the Friends church March 18 at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. PARISHO, when Salem Lodge No. 17, A.F. & A.M., of which he was one of the oldest members, took charge of the remains, interment being in the Friend's cemetery.
