    1. Hello
    2. Joanne Meyer
    3. Hi. My name is Joanne Meyer and I have several generations and surnames in Jones County. Most are listed on the Jones County Genweb site, but here's all of them anyways in case anyone hasn't *gasp* visited it yet. ARNOLD BEAVER (also BEEVER) BENDER BROWNELL DAY FLITCH FRENCH MEIER/MEYER PEALER ROSENSTIEL SCHOON I don't live in Jones County, but I live next door in Linn County and could do lookups if they are few and without a definite time limit. 8) I have a newly acquired scanner and will be posting new photos on my website, which is scheduled to be renovated to remove inaccurate info and info on living relatives. I'll probably be sending you one or two also, Richard, for inclusion on the website since I finally got the roll of film developed of my ancestor John Bender's monument to having turned the first sod in Madison Township. It has the actual yoke used on top of it. - Joanne Meyer moreta@mcleod.net

    1. RAFFETY, GRAFFORT, TAYLOR
    2. Frances M. Magrabi
    3. Hello, List. My g-g-grandfather, John C. RAFFETY, moved to Jones Co. in 1834 and bought a farm just outside of the present town of Cascade. He died there in 1852, but his son continued to live there until 1881, when he moved to Powashiek Co. His brother, Richard, moved to Jones Co. in 1842 with his large family. GRAFFORT (or Grafford) is my g-grandmother's maiden name. TAYLOR was the name of her aunt and uncle, who lived in Cascade. (He was "Judge Taylor". I believe I may have a picture of him.) John C. Raffety and Thomas Graffort were founding members of a Baptist church in Cascade. I would love to share information with other genealogists. I'm interested in the early history of Jones Co., in the Grafforts and Taylors, and in corresponding with any Raffety descendants. Frances

    1. Welcome!
    2. Richard Harrison
    3. Hello all and welcome to the Jones County mail list. Right now we're very small, so this would be a good time to list some of the Jones county surnames we're researching or other Jones county topics of interest. My own ancestors include Harrison, Walbridge, Tallman, Buckner & Soesbe. Is there anyone on the list who lives in Jones county? Consider this a "shake-down cruise." It is my first experience running a mail list. -Richard -- Richard Harrison/Encinitas, San Diego, California IAGenWeb Assistant State Coordinator County Coordinator, Jones Co.
