They immigrated to America before 1872. I have a letter dated 5. march 1872 to his daughter (my grand grand mother). The letter is written in a town called Magnoketa. I think it is Maqoketa in Jackson County in Iowa. They bought a house in Magnoketa (1871?) for 800 $ and they had 6 lodgers (Kirstens father: Jørgen MIKKELSEN from Jægerup (Jaegerup), Denmark). > There might be different spellings of SKAU, like Skov, Schou, Schau, Schouw. It means forest, The family name SKAU relates to the southern part of Jutland, near the border to Germany, and sometimes part of Germany. > I would like to correspond with anyone interested in exchanging information about this family. > > Sven SKAU > > > > ==== IAJACKSO Mailing List ==== > For a complete listing of Internet genealogy mailing lists, check: > http://users.aol.com/johnf14246/gen_mail.html > >
