U.S. Vol - would be US Volunteers Capt A Q M - Captain Army Quarter Master So is might be Captain Army Quarter Masters, US Volunteers Which cemetery is this burial? For instance, the Mt Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa has an "Abbreviations and Symbols Used" page in the front of its cemetery listings. Capt and VOL are both standard abbreviations for captain and volunteer. It didn't have the others. Did you try looking at the cemetery listing itself? Carol
