Harris was my 2nd great grandfather. His son was Joseph Barber Harris, who married Artemisa Elizabeth Harvey in Missouri Nov 7, 1871. They lived in Texas 1880, returned to Missouri in early 1890. Joseph and Elizabeth had met while he was on a cattle drive from Texas to Sedalia, Mo. There were a George and a John. Loy, son of Joseph and Elizabeth wrote a letter to my Mom in 1967 and told her some of the history. He said Charles William was born in Alsac Lorraine, France. He was a Doctor. He married Mary Barber who was born in Maryland. Joseph and Elizabeth children were Mary, Maud, Sarah, Kate (all born in Cooke County Texas) Loy W, Charles William, Edith Odessa. (the last 3 born in Polk County, Missouri. Joseph was in the Civil War, fought and was taken prisoner in Lincoln County, Tennessee (from army records) I have a picture that says Charles William Harris on the back, I donot know which one it is. Loy and Charles William was in the army in War World 1. Charles was dischared with consumption. He died at the Army Hospital in Prescott, Arizona in 1922. Never married. Odessa died of the flu in 1918. Loy married, no children, lived in California. Mary married George Fields in Springfield, Mo ( 2 children-Earl and Ella) Maud married twice-William Sunday and Lonzo Butts, no children. Sarah maried Johnathan Joseph Norman Jones in Joplin, Mo 1904. 2 daughters Elva Eleanor (my mother) Norma Faye. Sarah died in 1912 of consumption. My mother and aunt were raised in foster homes. Elva Married John Huey Griggs Jr. in 1922 in Kansas City, Mo. If you have any information on the Harris side I would be pleased to hear.
