Some 'government workers' don't consider genealogy research their job - however their main job is being 'keeper of the papers' and if they have the papers it is their job to respond favoribly to our requests - I don't care what they say or think. If push comes to shove you can write to the Clerk of Court or the Chief Judge with your request and your complaint. Then what I got was a over copied sign about contacting the Society instead of bothering county folks. They even sent my letter and check back when I tried to get a birth certificate copy with yet another copy of "that" sign. I haven't come across a solution for Jackson County yet.
