I will pass it on to my brother who is the one doing the research on the 5th Iowa. Our maternal g-grandfather, Abraham Deeter served with both the 5th Iowa Infantry and the 5th Iowa Cavalry. Our other maternal g-grandfather fought with the 14th Alabama Infantry.
