    3. "G N Show" is the inscription on a tombstone in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa. I believe this is my great-grandfather Jorgen Nissen Skov (b: 1804?)(in Denmark until emigration/immigration in 1871),/ George Nis Skow (in Iowa until his death, I believe before the 1880 census). Jackson Co. vital records has no death cert., & the good folks at Jackson Co. Genie Society can't find an obit. for "G N" that would clarify this stone as to age at death, date of death, relatives, etc. (Jorgen (George) Nis, Theodor(e), Christian, all born Denmark, and Martin, born U.S., were sons. Wife, Kirsten ( - Pedersen, then Broderson, d: 1912) remarried twice and is in same cemetery. Would appreciate any help anyone can render relative to Skow/Skov/Schou/Show families in Jackson county 1871 to 1890. I haven't retired yet and haven't been able to make time to get to Iowa to research this personally. Thanks in advance, Rich Bentley, Martinez, California ps: Don't try to do the math. Jorgen appears as a grizzled old man in the (1872) family photo depicting my grandfather as a 5-year-old son. Grandpa was 61 when mom was born. - That situation is a whole different investigation...
