They are especially interested in photographs, diaries, letters, personal histories, or family accounts from any members of either 5th Iowa unit. If you have any items or had an ancestor that belonged to either unit, I would appreciate hearing from you. Company I of the 5th Iowa Infantry and Company H of the 5th Iowa Cavalry were recruited primarily in the Jackson County, Iowa area.
