Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5k.2ADE/960.1031.1.1 Message Board Post: How wonderful to hear from you. We are definetly distant cousins - James Orra Gloss' father (James Crawford Gloss) was my great grandfather's brother. All of that generation of Gloss family stayed in PA - only James C. Gloss settled out West. He was the son of Barnhart Gloss who came from Germany in 1842. I have a great deal of info on the Gloss family that stayed in PA, if you would like it. I would love to have any information on the Gloss decendents that you may have. I don't know what your computer capability is, but if it's possible for you to scan the photo's you have and then e-mail them to me? If not, I would gladly pay to have reprints made, so I could have a copy of them. You mentioned Merry Smola Gloss. That is a name I am not familar with - would like to know who she was and how she fits into the picture. Looking forward to hearing from you - Laura Adair

I've been writing the Psychotic people since last January and all they do is send me an old mimeographed copy of a paper advertising a Genealogy Society that doesn't answer mail either. Their Motto "MY ONLY WISH IS TO SERVE YOU WELL" doesn't seem to work. If I write to ask for a record they just send my check back with yet another of them mimeographed papers with lots of high lighting and arrows pointing to the Genealogy Society that doesn't have a clue.

Surnames: ROBINSON, HENRY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5k.2ADE/569.688 Message Board Post: I am trying to find the descendants of Martin V. Robinson who was born Feb. 1836 in West Virginia. His wife was Mary and was born Jan. 1853 in Pennsylvania. She may have been a second wife as she was 14 yrs. younger than he was. I am trying to find out if he was the step father of Judson Day Henry (b. 1879). Judson married Edith Dilts in 1899 at Anita, Iowa. Judson's mother had married a Robinson (first name unknown) and Judson Henry's wedding announcement called her and her husband "Mother and Father Robinson". I never knew my grandfather, Judson Henry, and I am trying to find out where he went by seeking some Robinsons who were connected to him. The wedding announcement said that M. V. Robinson came to the wedding and so did C. D. Robinson. I found M. V. Robinson in the 1880 Iowa Census Index for Jackson Twp., Jackson Co., Iowa and he was with Nancy and George. I haven't looked this family up at the library yet, but I wonder if Nancy was his wife at the time and! George a son. Then I found him in the 1900 Iowa Census for Grant T., Anita, Iowa. His wife, Mary, was with him in that Census. I am wondering if Mary could be the mother of Judson and M. V. was her 2nd husband or if they were related to Judson in another way. I know very little about my grandfather's family so I am grasping at any clue I can find. I hope someone can help me.

The Milwaukee Railroad Depot was opened in 1872 when the railroad first arrived in Bellevue. According to the History of Jackson County, VOL II, "Preston came into existence simultaneously with the survey of the old Sabula, Ackley & Dakota railroad in 1869." The first train that came thru was in 1870. A Colonel I. M. Preston, for whom the town was named, "was identified with the building of the new railroad." In the "History of Jackson Co, Vol II" there is a picture of the Preston Depot. I have no idea when it was taken, although it appears to be more recent than 1902. If you would like a copy, I can send it as a .jpg file, just let me know. Good luck in your search. Carol
