I am looking to exchange information on the HIGHTOWER/HOCKETT family who moved to Salem Township approximately 1843. John HIGHTOWER moved his family from Jefferson County, Tennessee to Salem about 1843. He died soon after arriving leaving his wife Rachel MILLS and two young sons, Samuel and Joseph. Rachel remarried in 1844 to Stephen HOCKETT. Rachel was Quaker as were her children. I don't believe John Hightower was a Quaker. Apparently, John moved in a group with several of his brothers and sisters, including Robert and Thomas Hightower and sisters, Frances and Anne. I would especially like to find out where John is buried. I have much info on the descendants of John and Rachel's sons, Samuel and Joseph, if anyone is interested. janet young berkson
