I am attempting to locate any info on Henry & Elizabeth Walker et al, who lived in Mt Pleasant around 1842. Henry apparently donated substantial land to the then new Iowa Wesleyan College, to become 1 of the 5 founders of the school. Henry was a one time river boat captain. He was also the owner/operator of the 1st ferry across the Mississippi at Burlington IA. I'm unsure how many children they had. However I do know they had twins Ransom & Elizabeth b March 15 1842 in Mt Pleasant. Ransom attended Wesleyan College, only to leave in June 1861 to join the Union Army (in Infantry attached to Co. E 1st Regiment Iowa Cavalry). He was wounded during service and in Sept 1864, Ransom returned to his fathers' farm (Henry) in Mt Pleasant. Ransom married Mary Elizabeth Cable (b. Dec 8 1842) Jan 01 1866 and 2 of their 9 children were born in Mt Pleasant - Susie Amy b Nov 10 1866 and Anna Elizabeth b Apr 27 1868 I would appreciate any info.
