Hi, I am brand new to the list, and I am researching the Anderson and Rainey families of Henry Co., Iowa. I have gotten all of the information on this side from my grandmother's cousin who tried to get started on genealogy before she passed away a few years ago. It looks like my ancestors came to Henry Co., IA in the 1850s. Peter Anderson and his wife Sarah came to Henry Co., Iowa from Tennessee. They had several children. Their daughter Martha (who I descend from) was born August 25, 1842 in Tennessee and it saya that she died November 13, 1909 in Lowell, Iowa and is buried there. Martha Anderson married John Rainey, the son of James Rainey and his wife Margaret who were Irish immigrants. The records that I have say that they were married January 25, 1865 in Lowell, Iowa. John Rainey (husband of Martha Anderson) was born in Ohio, probably Belmont Co., Ohio. THe records say that he died and was buried in Lowell Iowa. John Rainey and his wife Martha ran a store in Lowell, or Mt. Pleasant, Iowa probably in the 1860s-1900s??? I do know that they had a store and that John and Martha had at least 3 children. Lee Ellen Rainey, b. September 23, 1867 d. January 21, 1963 Eugene Rainey, b. Abt 1870 Lucy Rainey My Lee Ellen Rainey married Issac Newton Williams December 28, 1885. It appears from what I am working with that Issac moved by himself from Greene Co., Pennsylvania and married Lee Ellen. Lee Ellen and Issac lived in Mt. Pleasant Iowa from around 1885 to 1909, then they moved to Perry, Oklahoma. All of Issac and Ellen's children were born in Mt. Pleasant. Charles Floyd Williams, b. 1887 Martha, b. 1899 Ethel, b. 1905 Bessie Mae, b. 1893 If anyone know of this family, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I have not yet made it back to the library in Houston to look at census or anything, and I hope that maybe some of you will be able to help me. Thanks, James Collins Angleton, Texas
