    1. McDONALD-O'DONALD-PLAMONDON: IA to OR/WA
    2. Sandy Wilbur
    3. On my website, I have just posted biographies of three more families who were on the McCULLY wagon train from Henry Co., IA, to OR in 1852: McDONALD, O'DONALD and PLAMONDON. Associated names are: For McDONALD - BLODGETT, MOIST, SALTMARSH, McCULLY, GUMM, STARR, CRAWFORD. For O'DONALD - WEAVER, GEER, CROSS and FARLEY For PLAMONDON - SCOTT, PAPE, BARRETT The O'DONALD and PLAMONDON families stayed pretty much in OR; some of the McDONALD group eventually settled in eastern WA. As with the other biographies on the McCULLY Train page, I have given only abbreviated citations for the references. I will gladly pass along the complete citations to anyone who is interested. Since these biographies were prepared in part from secondary and tertiary sources, I'd appreciate hearing from any of you who have corrections, or who have additional information on the families. 2. Norma F. Jennings
    3. If you have noticed the queries for Henry and Louisa County have not been converted into CCHELPER and indexed since early January. Unfortunately, we have had not one, but two sisters-in-law in the hospital in critical condition that we know we are going to lose shortly which has kept me preoccupied with concern for them since January 9, 1999. You will be happy to know that both counties have been updated. I just uploaded the converted Henry County queries today and Louisa County was done yesterday. If you were wondering what happened to your queries, the problem has been remedied. A few queries were unuseable, so may I remind you to please read the directions when posting queries on line. Some I edited as best I could but it was quite time consuming. The new queries are now posted at: http://www.rootweb.com/~ialouisa/qryindx.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~iahenry/qryindx.htm Norma Jennings List Owner and County Coordinator for Henry County and Louisa County.

    1. LINN - Eathan and Homer left Henry Co. 1852
    2. Sandy Wilbur
    3. Eathan LINN [1832-1900] and Homer LINN [ca.1834- ] were two of nine children of Henry County residents John E. LINN [1798-1879] and Elizabeth SWINEHART [1801-1842]. Eathan and Homer left Henry County in 1852 bound for Oregon. After spending some time in the Oregon and California gold fields, they settled in Walla Walla County, Washington, where they had a livery business. I have some further information on both, if anyone is interested. A family story is that Homer LINN was murdered and his herd of cattle stolen. If true, it probably occurred in eastern Washington in the 1880s. Does anyone know anything about this story, or about the life of either Eathan or Homer? Sandy Wilbur Gresham, OR

    1. HIGHTOWER/HOCKETT: Salem area
    2. EBerkson
    3. I am looking to exchange information on the HIGHTOWER/HOCKETT family who moved to Salem Township approximately 1843. John HIGHTOWER moved his family from Jefferson County, Tennessee to Salem about 1843. He died soon after arriving leaving his wife Rachel MILLS and two young sons, Samuel and Joseph. Rachel remarried in 1844 to Stephen HOCKETT. Rachel was Quaker as were her children. I don't believe John Hightower was a Quaker. Apparently, John moved in a group with several of his brothers and sisters, including Robert and Thomas Hightower and sisters, Frances and Anne. I would especially like to find out where John is buried. I have much info on the descendants of John and Rachel's sons, Samuel and Joseph, if anyone is interested. janet young berkson
