Hansen, 81, of Moorhead Iowa, died Sunday, October 15, 2006, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa. Stanley was born February 21, 1925 at Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Anton and Sigrid (Hansen) Hansen. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1942 and joined the United States Navy and served during World War II. He worked with his father and brother in the Hansen Blacksmith Shop, which served the community for over 75 years. In 1948, he married Margaret Millard from Hawarden, Iowa. She was teaching at Moorhead at the time. They had two children, Mike and Debra. Margaret died in 1968 after a long illness. In 1969, he married Norma Pedersen. She had three daughters, Deborah, Janis and Kristin. Norma died in 1983. Stan was active in the Moorhead Community. He was on the fire department, acting as chief; helped organize the rescue squad in 1975 and served as rescue chief; was president of the school board and served on the Moorhead State Bank Board. He was active in the Moorhead Christian Church and previously the Soldier Lutheran Church. He was a member, and served as commander for two years, of the American Legion Peter A. Hansen Post #565; served, acting as chairman, on the County Board of Health and was with the Monona County Special Deputies. Stan enjoyed singing very much and sang in several quartets, beginning in the 1950's. In later years, he sang with the Noteables, a men's chorus in Woodbine, Iowa. He also was a seven-gallon blood donor. Survivors include a son, Mike (Colleen) Hansen of Parks, Ariz.; four daughters, Deb (Daryle) Lauritsen and Kristin (Mark) Johnson all of Moorhead, Janis Pedersen of Papillion, Neb., and Deb Scott of Adel, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Juhl (Bernadine) Hansen of Moorhead; two sisters, Hope Nielsen of Onawa and Mary Lou (Robert) Kaveny of Novato, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lorayne Hansen; a special friend, Joyce Hanson of Ute, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Hansen; a brother, Paul Hansen; a brother-in-law, Howard Nielsen; a nephew, Rodney Hansen and a niece, Rhonda Cline. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Moorhead Christian Church with Rev. Ron Keith officiating. The congregation sang, "How Great Thou Art," "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" and "Beautiful Savior." The Noteables sang a selection of songs, Connie Anderson was pianist and Mary Lou Kratz was organist. Burial was made in Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Moorhead. Military honors were conducted by the American Legion Peter A. Hansen Post #565. Casket bearers were Aaron Hanson, Beckie Kelly, Matthew Barron, Adam Robertson, Ryan and Jared Miller, Kimberly and Jennifer Lauritsen, Sam, Jake, Sarah and Anna Zwiefel and Danielle and Heather Johnson.
