Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial was made at St. Joseph Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Kuntz officiated. Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Alzheimer's Association of East Central Iowa, 1570 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. Regina was born on July 3, 1917 in Dunlap, Iowa to Edward and Ellen Houlihan Houston. She married Ralph Aschenbrenner in Dunlap, Iowa on June 3, 1946. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Dunlap, Iowa, and attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Regina taught in rural Iowa schools for a few years and then moved to Iowa City where she taught for many y! ears. Regina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very active in church activities. She enjoyed playing bridge and exercising at the fitness center. Regina has lived near her daughter, Jean in an Alzheimer's Residence for the past four years and has appreciated frequent family visits. She greatly enjoyed the family reunion that her children organized in July of this year. Regina is survived by her children, Jean Aschenbrenner of Boulder, Colo., John and wife Susan of Urbandale, Iowa, Mary Collins of Rapid City, S.D., Barbara Manderfield and husband Jerry of Medellin Columbia, South America, Patricia Abeling and husband Tony of LaHabra, Calif.; her sister, Lucille Houston of Cannon Beach, Ore., and her grandchildren, Kate, Kristin, Erich, Melissa, Jonas, Nick, Joel, Bryce, Cara, Kelley, and Shannon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters, and an infant daughter, Nancy. Resepctfully submitted for other researchers. ©The Dunlap Reporter 2006
