She died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at her home in Dow City, Iowa at the age of seventy-one. Phyllis was born in Fort Dodge and was baptized there as an infant. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak on March 30, 1947 and received her education at St. John's Lutheran School. Alter completing her education, she worked for her father on the farm and helped various families with house cleaning. She later moved to Carroll, where she began working at the Casino Cafe as a waitress. On November 8, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Nicholas Feller in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll for a short time, then moved to LeMars and were blessed with the birth of five children. Phyllis worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the LeMars hospital. In 1964, Nick passed away and Phyllis moved her family to Charter Oak. On March 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Elmer Bockelmann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. The couple was blessed with the birth of a daughter. Phyllis spent her life caring for others, working as a CNA at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, at Crawford County Home Health, and worked at the Denison Care Center. She also worked privately for families, caring for their loved ones whenever she was needed. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, having made blankets for each of her children; and going to the casino. She was a wonderful cook, always making huge breakfasts of pancakes and eggs for her family, and was the greatest brownie maker around as she was famous for her "Iowa Brownies". She was a very loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law, who did so much for her children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Nicholas Feller and Elmer Bockelmann; two grandchildren, Mark Feller II, and Nicole Feller; one step-son, Larry Bockelmann; and her sister, Margorie Nathlich. Survivors include three sons: Nicholas Feller Jr. and his wife Angela of Fort Morgan, Colo., Mark Feller and his wife Sue of Denison and Daniel Feller of Belmond; three daughters, Cynthia Larson and her husband Roger of Defiance, Pam Ehlers and her husband Robert of Dunlap, and Lisa Arnold and her special friend Russell Cornelius of Missouri Valley; one step-son, Paul Bockelmann and his wife Judy of Charter Oak; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her special friend of twenty-seven years, Ernie Plough; and two sisters, Darlene Dose and her husband Bud of Anthon and Julianne O'Neal and her husband Allen of Redfield; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Charter Oak. Organist Jean Dommer provided accompaniment for soloist Makayla Beeck as she sang "Blessed Savior, Who Hast Taught Me," and for congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art," and Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me." Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Todd Bockelmann, Samantha Feller, Jenny Malone, Scott Bockelmann, Heather Arnold; Steven Arnold and Gina Ehlers. Those serving as pallbearers were Mike Krajicek Jr., Shane Ehlers, Jacob Feller, Michael Feller, Jason Feller and Adam Feller. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
