Hazel (Johnson) Oliver was born Jan. 13, 1913 to Christian and Ella (Nuzum) Johnson in Moorhead. She grew up in the Moorhead area and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1931. Hazel was united in marriage to Glen Oliver on January 12, 1935. The couple began farming on the Gunderson farm southeast of Pisgah. In 1944, they purchased the H.L. Magnet farm, which is still in the family. Hazel had a love for flowers. Her flower gardens were coveted by all those who knew her. She spent much time planting, pruning, watering and weeding her beautiful gardens. Hazel was a giver who spent much of her time doing things for others. Throughout her life, she was actively involved with Ladies Aide and was a long-time member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Hazel enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, March 30, 1996; her daughter, Neva Roden, and two brothers, Johnny and Vern. Survivors include three sons, Warren and his wife Rosalie, Magnolia; Gary, Somerset, Oh.; and Gale and special friend Bonnie of Soldier; daughter Glenice Carol and husband Bill Graham, Ahwatukee, Ariz.; son-in-law, Royl Roden and his wife Jane, Pisgah; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held Aug. 28 at the Community of Christ Church, Pisgah, Elder Royl Roden and Evangelist John Lizer, officiants. Musician was Norma Jensen and there was special music by Hazel's grandchildren. Honorary bearers were: Dixie Frisk, Denise Oliver, Dawn Allison, Denee Choice, Davonne Smith, Michelle Moore, Kristi Oliver, Angela Bothwell, Julie Kuhlman, Tara Rife, Gina Birdsall, Jan Evans, Jana Pospisil, and Lance Morin. Pall bearers were: Dennis Oliver, Michael Oliver, Dayne Roberts, John Roden, Joshua Pospisil, and ! Nicholas Oliver. Interment was in the Woodbine Cemetery.
