He was born May 23, 1922, in Dunlap to Henry and Ruby (Baber) Schaupp. He graduated from Dunlap High School in 1940 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Mr. Schaupp served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was an Arizona resident for more than 50 years, living in Willcox, Sedona and Chino Valley. He worked as a landscaping contractor. Wayne was a member of the Arizona Flywheelers, Good Sam's Club, Classic Car Club of Chino Valley and Chino Valley Community Church, and was P.E.R. of the Sedona Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Meredith; daughters, Kimberly Poole of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Shelley Sarson of Cornville, Ariz.; brother, Ron of Iowa; sister, Jesse Messenger of Willcox, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Memory Chapel in Prescott, Ariz. The Rev. Richard Anderson officiated. Interment with full military honors was held at Chino Valley Cemetery.
