Mathison, 70, of Woodbine died Friday, August 25, 2000, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine. He was born on August 22, 1930 in Moorhead, to parents Alfred and Flossie (Forrester) Mathison. He attended school in the Moorhead and Dunlap area. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jim married Lucille Golden on January 13, 1957. The couple lived in Council Bluffs until 1959 when they moved to Woodbine. Jim worked for the Harrison County Road Department for 14 years then operated Mathison Construction and a lawn mower repair and sales shop. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Woodbine American Legion Weiss Post #143 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jim had been the Chaplain of the VFW. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Forest. Jim is survived by his wife, Lucille Mathison of Woodbine; five children, Karen and Jerry Kelley of Harlan; Keith Mathison and Diane of Woodbine; Gale Mathison and Kimberly of Papillion; Jeff Mathison and Robin of Omaha, Neb. and Lynette and Daniel Moores of Woodbine; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday morning, August 28, 2000, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Rev. Jerald Firby officiated at the 10 a.m. service. Interment was made at Woodbine Cemetery. Military graveside rites were courtesy of Woodbine American Legion and VFW. Pallbearers were Keith Mathison, Gale Mathison, Jeff Mathison, Jerry Kelley, Danny Moores, Larry Douglas.
