Is anyone out there related to Amanda Newbery who married James A. Newberry and lived in Mills and Pottawattamie Co then Harrison Co? She married him as a very young woman, and apparently was not married to him for very long. He had recently lost his wife when she and James A. Newberry were married. We have found her on a deed selling property with her husband, but when he became ill, it seems that perhaps his family deemed her unable to care for him and took him into their own home. Amanda disappears. He died in 1880 in Pottawattamie Co. Later in a biography about James' son, it is mentioned that Amanda left the Pottawattamie/Mills Co. area and went to HARRISON County, Iowa. She was not mentioned in his will, except that the word widow is crossed out. We believe there was something contentious going between his family and she left. She was reported to be very young (a teenager) and inexperienced, and he was in his 80's. If anyone out there knows of her and what happened to her, please contact me. We have found one Amanda who died in California, but we are unsure if they are one in the same person, though their vitals are extremely similar. We don't know a great deal about her, and only recently figured out her first name from the above mentioned deed. Thanks in advance. Sue
