Box 118 Sioux City, Iowa 51102 POSTED February 14th, 2007 WAYNE, Neb. -- Marty Summerfield, 49, of Wayne died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hasemann-Schumacher Funeral Home in Wayne. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Marty Summerfield Marty Summerfield was born May 31, 1957 at Denison, Iowa to Earl and Eleanor (Chupp) Summerfield. He graduated from Dunlap, Iowa High School in 1975 and received his BA Degree in finance from Wayne State College in 1985. While attending college, Marty worked at the State National Bank. He later joined State National Insurance where he was employed for over twenty years. Marty married Sheryl Brasel on September 8, 1979 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dow City, Iowa. The couple has lived in Wayne since 1981. Marty was an avid sports enthusiast of Wayne High School and Wayne State College and had a passion for golf rain or shine. As a father, he enjoyed watching Meg and Nate participate in sports and academics. Marty's children were his pride and joy. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, WAEDI, Wayne Ambassadors, past president of Wayne Industries, Wayne High Booster Club, Wayne Country Club Board. Marty's service to the community of Wayne will be missed. Marty is su! rvived by his wife, Sheryl; daughter, Megan Summerfield of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son, Nathan Summerfield of Wayne; mother, Eleanor Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa; brother, Jim (Lynn) Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa; sisters, Linda (Mike) Blume of Manilla, Iowa, and Glenda Summerfield and Laura (Tom) Schumate all of Dunlap, Iowa; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Marty was preceded in death by his father, Earl and brother, Vernon. A Christian Service was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne, Neb., Friday, February 16, 2007, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Donald Imming officiating. Deacon was Patrick Gross; cantor, Terri Hypse; soloist, Kaki Ley and organist, Pat Sherry. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Jordan, David Ley, Chris King, Ralph Barclay, Dan Tunink, Brian Bowers and Wayne High School Basketball Team. Active pallbearers were Pat Garvin, Ke! n Marra, Greg McDermott, Ryun Williams, Dave Broders, Randy Dunklau, J im Lindau, Troy Harder, Mark McCorkindale. Interment was made Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Dow City Cemetery in Dow City, Iowa at 11:30 a.m. with Hasemann-Schumacher Funeral Homes of Wayne, Neb., in charge of arrangements.
