Dorothy was born October 13, 1913, to James and Etta May Garner in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Dorothy was the youngest of 9 children, all of whom preceded her in death. Her schooling was in the Missouri Valley, Iowa, area where she spent most of her younger years. Dorothy met Jimmy Reninger and they went together for several years before they were married on the 28th of February, 1934. They began their married life on a small farm near Big Lake in Council Bluffs. When Jimmie went to work for the North West, they moved into a home on Avenue B and then to a home on Lake Manawa, where they lived for most of their adult years. After Jimmy retired, they moved to Diamond City, Ark., where Jimmy could fish. Jimmy caught 'em and Dorothy cooked 'em. They returned to Glenwood, Iowa, where Jimmy passed awa! y in 1988, Dorothy remained in Glenwood for many years and then returned to Council Bluffs to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Donna Mae Hearty until Donna's passing in May, 2006. At her passing, Dorothy was a resident of Risen Son near Council Bluffs. Dorothy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She along with her sister, Beulah, could be found in the kitchen at most of the early Council Bluffs Branch socials and dinners. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Reninger; and 2 daughters, Donna Mae Hearty and Linda Kay Reninger. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Mike Flanagan of Council Bluffs, Tim Flanagan (Sue) of Council Bluffs and Julie Lerette (Roger) of Kansas; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Visitation Monday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill- Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Co! uncil Bluffs.
