Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Merrell Lantz died Monday, January 22nd, 2007 at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Survivors include 1 daughter, Jessica Jo Lantz of Daytona Beach, FL; 1 son, Jon Lantz of Kayenta, FL; 2 sisters, Thelma Bonar (Bob) of Dow City and Nettie Nuzum (Bob) of Woodbine; 1 brother, Warren Lantz (Sandy)of Dunlap. Visitation will be held after 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 25th, 2007 at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Lantz, Merrell Dean October 24, 1943 - January 22, 2007 Merrell Dean Lantz October 24, 1943 - January 22, 2007 The Dunlap Reporter February 02, 2007 Merrell Dean Lantz was born October 24, 1943, to Harley and Ella (Hudson) Lantz in Dunlap, Iowa. He attended country school in Dunlap until the death of his father. He then went to live with his sister, Thelma, and attended school in Dow City before returning to Dunlap to graduate from Dunlap High School in 1961. He then moved to Kansas City to attend electrical schooling before joining the Air Force. Merrell went to work for Master Craft Furniture Manufacturing in Council Bluffs. Merrell married Susan Jane Olson on July 13, 1968, at the Methodist Church in Dunlap. The couple lived in Dow City and he worked for Farmland until 1979. Merrell had a tractor accident July 16, 1980. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1982 and Merrell attended the University of Iowa majoring in English. Merrell then moved to Arizona, back to Dow City to live with Thelma, to Florida and back to Dow City again. Merrell was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. Merrell ! died Monday, January 22, 2007, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., attaining the age 63 years, two months, and 29 days. Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Leona Lantz. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Jo Lantz of Daytona Beach, Fla.; son, Jon Michael (Michelle) Lantz of Kayenta, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Amanda Kimberly, Joshua Luke, and Miah Haley; two sisters, Thelma (Bob) Bonar of Dow City, Iowa, Nettie (Bob) Nuzum of Woodbine, Iowa; one brother, Warren (Sandy) Lantz of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap, Iowa Friday, January 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Judy Deweber officiating. Recorded selections were "Mansion Over the Hilltop" and "How Great Thou Art." Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Pallbearers were Roger Nuzum, Gale Nuzum, Jim Nuzum, Keith Samuelson, Mark Crampton, Ron Hartwig. Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap was in charge of! arrangements.
