The Daily Nonpareil 2/6/2007 Fay S. Fouts, age 95, of Dunlap, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center. He farmed in the Galland's Grove area near Dunlap. Mr. Fouts was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Burns) Fouts, on April 15, 1998. He is survived by eight children, Pauline (Jerry) Kloewer of Harlan, Iowa, Bob Fouts of Dunlap, Phil (Anita) Fouts of Woodbine, Iowa, Kenneth (Janice) Fouts of Dunlap, Iowa, Phyllis (W. D. "Pete") Petersen of Sahuarita, Ariz., Vicky (Tom) Henkelman of Denver, Colo., Becky (Dave) Young of Queen Creek, Ariz., Jim (Peggy) Fouts of Dow City, Iowa; 33 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; one brother Glen (Doris) Fouts of Beaumont, Texas; one sister, Marcella Hansen of Carson City, Nev. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, with the family greeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2007, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap. Fay S. Fouts was born January 4, 1912, to William Adel and Elizabeth (Mosher) Fouts in Dunlap, Iowa. Fay attended Grove Township Shelby County School #2. Fay married Helen Patricia Burns on November 21, 1930, in Logan Iowa. The couple farmed in the Galland's Grove area until 1965. They then moved to Dunlap where Fay worked for Schaben Auction Service. The couple moved to Council Bluffs and Fay worked at Offutt Air Force Base. Fay retired in 1980 and the couple returned to Dunlap where they lived in the funeral home and helped their son and daughter-in-law with visitations. Helen died April 15, 1998. Fay was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He had served on the Grove Township Board and had served as clerk of the Grove Township. Fay enjoyed baseball and horse racing, and he was always ready for a card game. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he always had a smile on his face. Fay died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 95 years and one month. Fay was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; infant son Billy Darrell, three brothers, Holley, Harvey and Floyd; and three sisters, Florence Greenwood, Ethel Steinhauser and Julia Lahr. He is survived by eight children, Pauline (Jerry) Kloewer of Harlan, IA, Bob Fouts of Dunlap, IA, Phil (Anita) Fouts of Woodbine, IA, Kenneth (Janice) Fouts of Dunlap, IA, Phyllis (Wilbur) Peterson of Sahuarita, AZ, Vicky (Tom) Henkelman of Denver, CO, Becky (Dave) Young of Queen Creek, AZ, Jim (Peggy) Fouts of Dow City, IA; 33 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; 10 great great grand-children; one brother Glen (Doris) Fouts of Beaumont, TX; one sister, Marcella Hansen of Carson City, NV; and many other relatives and friends.
