Rannells June 8, 1925 - January 18, 2007 The Dunlap Reporter February 09, 2007 Paul F. Rannells was born June 8, 1925 in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Della (Fox) Rannells. Paul was a 1943 graduate of Dunlap High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart. He married Lois Shields on November 2, 1946, in Dunlap. He learned the plumbing trade while working at B&G Plumbing. He then worked in sales at Westinghouse for 10 years before owning and operating Paul's Plumbing for 23 years. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Waterloo Elks Club, and the Cedar Falls American Legion. Paul died Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; a son, Scott (Chris) Rannells of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a daughter, Amy Rannells of Waterloo, Iowa; a brother, Edgar (Genevieve) of Dunlap, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy Bridgford of Onawa, Iowa and Cecil Cifka of Denver, Colo; two grandchildren, Samuel and Luke Rannells of Cedar Falls, Iowa; ! a brother-in-law, Patrick (Patricia) Shields; a sister-in-law, Margaret Grady of Woodbine, Iowa; and nieces and nephews, Paula Cifka, Joan Humphries, Teresa Gersema, Leah Madsen, Sara Ruhlmann, Patrick Shields, Cindy Huseman, Chris Ballantyne, Michael Grady, Peg Ritchie, Mary Berry, Nora Ladewig, Tim Grady, Robert Grady, Nan Kiel, and Sheila Grady. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa with Father James Secora as celebrant. Musician was Lisa Sevcik and cantor was Diann Frembgen. Gift bearers were Samuel and Luke Rannells. Interment was made at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Military honors were provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Casket bearers were Patrick O. Shields, Patrick J. Shields, Mark Nading, Phil Ruhlmann, Michael Grady, Fred Ritchie. Richardson Service in Cedar Falls, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
