(Lindsey) Chiles on a farm north of Woodbine. She attended Maple Grove School and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1932. She then received her Normal Teacher's Training. On August 7, 1933, Evelyn married Paul Ganzhorn at the home of Elder Howard Reynolds. For their first year of married life, the couple lived with Paul's parents. They then moved to the Furbrush place up the road. In 1935, Evelyn's father died and the couple moved to that home to help the family and farm the ground. In 1937, the couple moved to a farm west of town. In 1939, they moved south of Magnolia and lived there for eight years. They moved back to Paul's family farm after Paul's folks moved to town in 1947. The couple lived there until they moved to Woodbine in 1984. Paul died May 30, 2004. Evelyn was a member of the Christian Church. She enjoyed church activities, the reading circle, crocheting, gardening ~ especially flowers, keeping her diaries, and volunteering at the library and county extension. Evelyn died Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 92 years, two months, and 26 days. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; daughter, Janet Ganzhorn; and sister, Gladys Thistelthwaite. She is survived by her son, David Ganzhorn and his wife Deanna of Woodbine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Lisa Bill and Tom; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Chiles of Cibola, Texas and Lloyd Chiles and his wife Lois of Hammond, Indiana; sister-in-law, Marlyn Ganzhorn of Mapleton, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Selections were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "In The Garden." Pall bearers were Don Clark, Richard Ehlert, Scott Ganzhorn, Mike Leonard, Karl Peterson and Jerry Straight.
