Can someone tell me where Frank M. was bitten (I assume it was Harrison County) and the newspaper this came from. You may reply to the list or privately to me at mahaffy@dordt.edu Thanks. Sept. 25, 1890: Miss Myra Barsby returned Tuesday from a visit with her sister in Des Moines. Sept. 4, 1890: While out in the country with his family last Sunday gathering plums Frank Manchester was bitten by a poisonous rattlesnake, which inserted its fangs between the thumb and index finger on his right hand. The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. and before the patient could be moved it was about supper time, both Drs. Livermore and Hazlett being called, who rendered the necessary attention.
