Gardner Feb. 9, 1918 - April 28, 2007 Logan Herald-Observer 5/10/2007 Evelyn G. Dayhuff, 89, of Logan, passed away April 28, 2007 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. May 2 at the Christian Church in Logan, with Pastor Ron Riley officiating. Organist was Anne Stoner and vocalist Rick Powell. Selections were, "Amazing Grace" and "Thank You." Casket bearers were Rollie Waters, Corey Dayhuff, Rodney Dayhuff, Ryan Barnett, Kevin Dayhuff and Bradley Dayhuff. Final resting place was Oak Grove Cemetery in Missouri Valley. Evelyn was born Feb. 9, 1918 in Pottawattamie County to Thomas and Clara May (Handbury) Gardner Sr. She graduated from Beebeetown High School, then attended Iowa State Teachers College earning her teaching certificate. Evelyn was married to Robert Dayhuff April 16, 1938. She taught school in Beebeetown, and they moved to Logan in 1959. At that time they owned and operated the Dayhuff Chevrolet Dealership where Evelyn was the bookkeeper. Robert died in July of 1990. Evelyn was a member of the Christian Church, P.E.O., and a charter member of the Logan-Missouri Valley Country Club. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, camping, and golfing. Survivors include her sons, Robert "Wayne" Dayhuff of Logan, Richard Alan Dayhuff and wife Carol of Berthoud, Colo.; sister Emma Evans of Council Bluffs; brother Dean Gardner and wife Geraldine of Neola; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Jeanette Jones, Ferne Jessen, Lucille Nelson, Opal Hansen and brother Tom Gardner. Memorials may be given to the Logan Fire and Rescue.
