She was 90 years of age and had been in poor health for several years. The family will celebrate her life of love for her family and friends on June 2 at a graveside memorial service at the Magnolia Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lutheran Fellowship Hall in Magnolia. Elsie was born May 30, 1916, to John and Julia (Voss) Mensching on their farm near Magnolia. An only child, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Magnolia where she was baptized, confirmed and became an active member in the church. Elsie married Donald Heady in 1936. They had three children, Robert (Bob), Joyleen (Jo) and Gary. Elsie and Donald lived and worked on their farm near Magnolia until 1970 when they moved to Logan. In 1983, they followed their daughter to Antioch, Calif., where they became members of Grace Lutheran Church in Pittsburg, Calif. After Donald's passing, Elsie traveled extensively with her daughter and son-in-law throughout the United States. Elsie's husband Donald, and her oldest son Bob, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joe and Carl DeRousse of Gardnerville, Nev., and son Gary Heady of Terra Haute, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Sherry Frederes (married to Lowell) of Omaha, Neb., Bruce Schmidt ( married to Brenda) of Arlington, Neb., Terri Heady of Omaha, Neb., Cynthia Rome (married to Lonnie) of Plymouth, Calif., Michael Heady of Terra Haute, Ind., Robin Heady of Sacramento, Calif., Shawna DeRousse (married to Wayne Phelps) of Gardnerville, Neb.; and nine great grandchildren. Elsie will be missed but remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and compassion. She may be gone, but she will not be forgotten.
