Janetta was born September 7, 1933, in Dunlap, Iowa, to the late Frank J. and Edith K. (Kline) Benson. She graduated from Dunlap High School in 1950 and Jennie Edmundson Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Janetta married Richard Speight, Sr. on June 12, 1954, and to this union two sons were born. She was a registered nurse and retired as head nurse from Jennie Edmundson Hospital in 1973, after 20 years of service. Janetta was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and did volunteer work there for ten years. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters, one brother, and stepfather, George W. Lyons. Janetta is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard F. Speight, Sr. of Council Bluffs; sons, Rev. Richard F. Speight, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Steven H. Speight of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren; two sisters, ! Joy Sowers, Darla Cleveland and husband Ron, all of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24 2007, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, with Rev.
