    2. Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA December 15th, 2004 Virgil E. Clark, 80, of Council Bluffs died Dec. 13 at Northcrest Care Center. (http://bannerads.zwire.com/bannerads/redirect.cfm?ADLOCATION=4000&PAG=461&BRD=2554) He was born May 20, 1924, in Mondamin to William M. and Cora Jobe Clark. He served in the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator working for Commercial Lot Cleaning in California. He was a former Council Bluffs Police operator. He was a member of VFW Post No. 737 and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Clark and his wife, Roberta, were married 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vincent. Survivors in addition to his wife include daughter, Ruth Ann Etherington, and husband, Lloyd, of Council Bluffs; son, David, and wife, Wanda, of Westhills, Calif.; grandchildren, Kristi Etherington, Robert Etherington, Brandon Clark, Jessica Billingley, Jennifer Baumgardner and Jolene Etherington; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Evan Clark and wife, Jacqueline, Fred Clark and wife, Helen, all of Council Bluffs, and Glen Clark and wife, Maxine, of Fontana, Calif.; sister, Bonnie Alley, of Elmonte, Calif.; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with John Farrell, chaplain at Hospice Preferred Choice, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2. Memorials may be offered to Hospice Preferred Choice and Northcrest Care Center.
