Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA December 31st, 2004 Charles H. Armstrong Sr., 77, of Council Bluffs died Dec. 29 at his residence. (http://bannerads.zwire.com/bannerads/redirect.cfm?ADLOCATION=4000&PAG=461&BRD=2554) He was born April 21, 1927, in Little Sioux to Hubbard and Elizabeth Petersen Armstrong. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Ready Mixed Concrete Company for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was a life member VFW 737. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by son, Donald; parents; brother, Leonard; and sister, Lorna Newberry. Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Debra Nims and husband, John, of Council Bluffs, Cheryl Kermoade and husband, Ed, of Council Bluffs and Denise Caraveo and husband, Leonardo, of Omaha; son, Charles Jr., of Council Bluffs; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Colleen Smith and Keith Pruett of Council Bluffs, Angela Yordt and husband, Scott, of Princeton, Minn., and Terri Smith of Princeton, Minn.; stepson, Steven Smith, and wife, Evelyn, of Council Bluffs; sisters, Alice Terril of Omaha, Twila Bell of Omaha, Delia Ottesen of Council Bluffs, Dixie Emmons of Council Bluffs; brothers, Bill and wife, Linda, of Pacific Junction, Don of Omaha and Jerry and wife, Margie, of Omaha. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lowell Burkum officiating, followed by military rites by VFW Post No. 737. A luncheon will follow services at VFW. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials will be directed as family wishes
