Osweiler, 83, Missouri Valley, died Nov. 23 at Longview Home. Lyle was born July 2, 1921 in Pocahontas to William and Priscilla (Peiffer) Osweiler. He married Iona Calkins, Nov. 23, 1944 in Varina. Lyle farmed for several years and worked at Fruehauf Trailers, Omaha, as a machinist. Iona died Jan. 14, 2000. Lyle was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iona, and brothers, Don, Kenneth and Francis. Survivors include: daughters, Mary Tenney and her husband, Dennis, Highland Hills, N.Y.; Joan Martens and her husband, Jack, Missouri Valley; sons, Terry and his wife, Carol, Highland Hills, N.Y.; Jim and his wife, Vicki, Boise, Ida.; Rodney and his wife, Judy, Norfolk, Neb.; Bill and his wife, Kim, Dallas, Tex.; sister, Doris Pitzen and her husband, Phil, Storm Lake; brother, James, Woodbine; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Nov. 27, Rev. Frs. Bob Harris and Eugene Koch, celebrants. Musician was Lyle Waterhouse. Casket bearers were Mike Osweiler, Rick Osweiler, Justin Gearhart, Dean Dewaele, Scott Osweiler, and Michael VanSickel. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Missouri Valley.
