Michael, 76, Logan, died Jan. 2 at her home. Doris H. (Marley) Michael was born May 21, 1928, to Platte and Nellie (Mefferd) Marley, east of Woodbine. She attended country school east of Woodbine, then went to school in Logan starting in 6th grade. She graduated from Logan High School in 1945. She then started teaching the fall of 1945 in rural schools with a normal teaching certificate. In 1947, Doris married Robert W. Michael. The couple was blessed with three daughters and one son. While raising her family she attended Dana College, Blair, where she received her bachelor's degree in 1972. Doris taught school for 34 years. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Magnolia and 5th grade in Logan. Doris was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan. She enjoyed quilting so much that she made many quilts for grandchildren as well as for various mission projects. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Max Marley. Doris is survived by her husband, Robert W. Michael, Logan; son, Robert J. Michael and his! wife, Becky, Logan; daughters, Pam Stoffel and her husband, Bob, Omaha, Patty Otey and her husband, Wally, Bellevue, Neb., Peggy Corpman and her husband, Dean, Maxwell AFB, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Cole and her husband, Dave, Eugene, Ore., and twin sister Dorothy Krapes, also of Eugene; and sister-in-law, Florence Marley, Logan. A Memorial Service will be held today (Wednesday, Jan. 5) at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Logan, Rev. Dennis Maaske, officiant. Musician will be Dona Emswiler, vocalists will be Nick and Jenny Payne. Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Matthew Stoffel, Christy Leggett, Bill Stoffel, Angela Frost, Micheline Henning, Amanda Stoffel, Michael Lanctot, Nicholas Stoffel, Benjamin Michael, Joseph Stoffel, Patrick Stoffel, and Sarah Stoffel. There will be no visitation. Her body was donated to science. Her ashes will be buried at the Woodbine Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the L! ogan Fire & Rescue, Immanuel Lutheran Church or Myrtue Memorial Hospic e. Fouts Funeral Home, Woodbine, is in charge of arrangements.
