I recently was able to purchase some 1881 copies of the newspaper, Iowa State Register, Des Moines. The January 18, 1881, edition had the following small article about a Harrison County resident: "Miss Kate TOVEY has begun action in the District Court at Logan to recover heavy damages for injuries she received by being thrown from a buggy while on her way from Mondamin to visit a friend in the country. She claims that two hunters appeared suddenly before her team and frightened the horses so that they became unmanageable. She bases her complaint on the ground that hunting on Sunday, the day on which the accident happened, is forbidden by law , and that any one violating the law is liable for damages sustained in consequence thereof." Thought it might be interesting to someone. Mona Sarratt Knight
